I've just published parts 4 and 7 of research into the War Memorial
I wanted to publish these parts together (I'll do 5 & 6 next) because these men were neighbours.
John George Hodgson lived at Minto Grange and his neighbour, Walter Rhodes lived at Hollow Banks Farm - just across the Scorton Road. They both enlisted in the Green Howards and they both gave their lives on the battlefields of Northern France.
You might guess by the surname that John George Hodgson was my great great Uncle,
The graves of Walter (Hibers Trench Cemetery) and John (Ville sur Ancre Cemetery) are shown below.
